Reasons

Born into a sprint
Veering left or right
A full speed wobble dash
Meets a brick wall
With volcanic intentions
Merging matter diffused
indifferent to its prior condition

Whether you meet the wall
or the wall meets you
The matter is who bears the burden
With grace
Or the ferocity necessary to endure

Past purpose is legend etched in stone
Of time weathered bone
Where spoken remedy of blood soaked battles
Cry above quiet
cancelling tragic opportunity
Within circles of circus music
that wallows underneath

Service with severity stands on polished boots
Ever enduring the truth
Might be that seekers find reasons
To believe hope can be found
In an ever more gentle space of mind

Repeatedly recalling this knotted neck
through a veil of rusted nails
Unassuming though they were
Whipped aloud by golden ashes
Of dreams laid to rest

Through myriad seasons
My memories burned
Refilling my quiver with lessons learned
became the reasons
I embrace these gifts
On the journey I’ve earned
